Job Description

The Public Services Librarian oversees library services that support the academic needs of Sheridan College. Duties include overseeing and setting policy for Circulation, Acquisitions, Interlibrary Loans, Serials Management, Tech Services, and Course Reserves services. This position often requires time covering the circulation desk, including possible evening and weekend hours, and is responsible for the management and evaluation of circulation desk staff of eight or more students and part-time staff. In collaboration with other librarians, this position assists with information literacy and teaching, reference needs, outreach to faculty, staff, and the community, collection development, developing resource/topic guides, staff scheduling, programs, displays, and promotional materials.

Education/QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Associated accredited institution

• Information Literacy teaching theory and practices
• Interlibrary loan practices
• Serials management
• Considerable experience with library systems and technology
• Microsoft Word and Excel at intermediate level
• Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems

• Preferred knowledge: 
o SIRSI integrated library system

The Community

Our community’s support makes it possible for us to continue to provide state-of-the-art facilities and educational experiences for our students. The Whitney Center for the Arts, completed in 2016, has become a cornerstone for the arts in Sheridan.
