Job Description

Do you deliver a high level of customer service?  Do you want to create and present programming to library patrons?  Are you inspired to provide dynamic leadership in programming, subject matter mentoring for staff, and proactive community outreach?  If you are a dynamic, customer-focused, forward-thinking individual with an aptitude for technology who enjoys serving the public, then an Outreach Librarian position may be the job for you! 

  • Be a library representative providing community outreach, both in person and digitally throughout Jefferson County.
  • Ensure equal access to all resources and materials, both physical and digital.
  • Cultivate connections with area organization, businesses and community stakeholders.
  • Display a passion for reading and media while marketing adult library resources and services at community events and within the library system.
  • Work with other cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives for the library system.
  • Provide one-on-one library assistance to our patrons and is vital to the success of our "Book a Librarian" program.
  • Be an educator displaying a strong knowledge of tablets, e-readers and other personal technology devices and enjoys teaching technology to new users.
  • Perform moderately complex research, enjoys challenging reference questions and refers patrons to relevant resources available in the library and in the community.
  • Provide a library connection to our business community by providing outreach and research resources to small businesses.
  • Contribute to the positive and inviting atmosphere of the Jefferson County Public Libraries by displaying high-level customer service skills, patience and understanding.
  • Comply with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119 and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, as well as, ADA governing public access to space and technology.

    • Must work days, some evenings and weekends, and holidays as required.

    • This position's office is in the Standley Lake Library but the role provides outreach services system-wide and throughout Jefferson County.

    • Minimum of 1 year of library work experience.
    • Public library work experience preferred.
    • Intermediate reading, writing, and math skills.
    • Computer and technology skills as appropriate for the position.
