Working Environment: Work is performed in a standard library environment, which includes exposure to dust. Requires the ability to move around the building and to access materials on shelves. Work requires light lifting/carrying (up to 40 lbs.) standing, walking, bending/stooping, reaching, pushing/pulling, twisting, kneeling, and squatting, and sufficient visual and physical capabilities to work on computers and associated equipment. Work requires repetitive motion to enter data on keyboard. Job Description
Our previous Page and Shelver Supervisor is now our Department Head in Circulation! We are looking for just the right person who loves the front-line action of the Circulation Desk, and who can supervise a large part-time staff with compassion, organizational skills, and a good sense of humor. The expected schedule will be Sunday through Thursday.

Principle Duties
Respond to and resolve customer issues that may include disputed fines, overdue, lost, or
damaged items, problems with loan requests, and/or Library policy interpretation. Provide
technical support to staff in Circulation and report modules of the Library’s integrated library
system (ILS) software. Assist and instruct patrons in the use of computer software programs and
the Internet. Conduct searches using automated Library databases such as OCLC, Prospector
and the ILS. Assist Library patrons, recommending resources for purposes of education,
information, or recreational reading. Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors,
co-workers, and the public. Collaborate with other Library staff to provide effective customer
service. Supervise employees and volunteers including the selection process, preparing work
schedules, designing and conducting training, problem resolution, ensuring staff coverage, and
performance evaluation. Provide direct assistance to customers at the Circulation desk and
Phone Desk, performing work of the Library Assistants as well as resolving customer service
issues such as disputes over payment of fines, overdue/lost/damages materials, and policy
interpretation. Assist Library patrons at a public reference desk in assigned department.
Interview patrons by telephone or in person to determine needs and locate desired information
or library materials using the computerized databases, library materials, other reference tools, or
contacts with other libraries. Act as building manager/supervisor on nights and weekends or
when the Library Director and Librarian II supervisors are not available. Assist Library patrons
(children, teens, or adults) with personal computers, providing instruction in using reference
sources, word processing, and the Internet and assisting with problems. May assist in
conducting Library tours and presenting programs to teens and adults. Explain the Standards of
Behavior as necessary for the safe and smooth operation of the library. Participate in and
represent the Library to citywide, regional, and or state committees.
