Working with the library director and staff, the assistant director is responsible for daily operations, including personnel and some administrative duties.

We need a leader who is creative, visionary, innovative, energetic, positive, flexible and responsible. The position calls for an excellent manager with the ability to coach people and lead projects. We need an effective communicator, able to lead meetings and relay pertinent information. Candidates should embrace new technologies and ideas and be tech savvy: familiar with MS Office, online resources, Millennium ILS, and downloadable audio/video/e-books. Familiarity with BISAC is a plus. Candidates should possess expert searching capabilities using internet and/or print tools. We are absolutely passionate about providing exemplary customer service to our patrons and need a leader who embraces these same principles.

The Community

The Lavenia McCoy Public Library serves the Pine River Public Library District (population 7,500) in beautiful and historic southwest Colorado. The library is located in the town of Bayfield, just 20 miles east of Durango, a popular ski town and tourist destination. Surrounded by the San Juan Mountains, the area prides itself on its small-town atmosphere and strong sense of community.
