Job Description

Position Description: • Borrows requested materials from other libraries. Items requested for CSU-Pueblo students, faculty, and staff are ordered from other libraries on a daily basis and processed upon their arrival. Processing includes sorting packages, updating patron request records, and labeling materials. • Fills requests to lend materials to other libraries using a variety of software, including OCLC, Prospector, SWIFT, Docline, and other library catalogs. Outgoing requests are downloaded daily; requested items are retrieved from the various collections, checked out, and sent to the requesting library. Articles may be scanned, faxed, e-mailed, or mailed. • Supervises 3-4 work study students each semester. Determines student work schedules, trains students on processes, procedures, and systems, determines daily work assignments, maintains time sheets and other personnel related paperwork, and evaluates students. • Works regular reference desk and Text A Librarian shifts, including backup coverage as scheduled. • Searches online databases, catalogs and other journal archives to locate resources requested by library constituents. Instructs and assists patrons in setting up personal accounts in Interlibrary Loan systems such as Prospector or Clioweb. May assist patrons with general reference questions either in the ILL office or at the Reference Desk. • Communicates with students, faculty, staff, and community members as well as staff at other libraries via phone and e-mail to resolve specific request issues, including lost materials and materials requiring payment. Notifies patrons by phone, email, or letter of overdue materials either borrowed or lent. Refers fine disputes to supervisor. • Keeps monthly transaction statistics, yearly courier statistics, performs counts for scheduled courier surveys. • Supervises Circulation Desk and circulation students as backup.

Preferred: • Two or more years of library experience. • Knowledge of library interlibrary loan procedures and policy. • Knowledge of library circulation procedures and policy. • Supervisory experience. • Experience in a position that required excellent customer service skills. • Experience in a position that required a high level of attention to detail.
