The Library Associate provides customer service for library operations. Welcomes and offers assistance to patrons. Performs circulation functions. Prepares library materials. This is a part-time, no benefits position. 18 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends required. Schedule may vary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists patrons in identifying, locating, and using library resources to include print, non-print, and digital resources.
Performs all circulation functions. Includes creating patron accounts, issuing cards, checking materials in and out, maintaining patron database, and collecting fines.
Assists patrons in the use of library computers and provides assistance with use of email, word processing, and other common software. Provides guidance to patrons with basic functions such as saving and printing of documents.
Assists Reference and Children’s Librarians with collection maintenance through weeding shelving, and merchandising materials.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
Handles homebound services by selecting and checking out materials for homebound patrons. Arranges delivery through volunteers.
Processes inter-library loan requests (ILL). Facilitates and records interlibrary loan requests to and from other libraries.
Assists with programs and story times.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
The City of Englewood is centrally located within the Denver Metropolitan area. Just south of Denver, Englewood is ideally situated for citizens, business people, and visitors. Englewood offers a small town atmosphere of community with all the benefits of a larger metropolitan area nearby.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in any field. Must possess 2 years of customer service experience. Library and/or bookstore experience preferred; preference will be given to candidates with this experience.
Basic knowledge of:
•Public library operations
•Maintaining database records
•General information technologies to include portable computing devices and research techniques
Skills and Abilities:
Computer - Basic skills required for accurate data entry and records management. Intermediate skills needed to instruct patrons in the use of common software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, downloadables, and search engines.
Communication - Intermediate skills required to work in a team-oriented environment. Also needed to interact with patrons and provide customer service.
Work is performed in a standard library environment, requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time. Work may also be performed in a standard office environment, requiring sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to push and pull a full book cart (up to 20 lbs/force) and perform occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs). Job requires visual and physical capabilities to perform data entry, filing, and to work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time.
