Join an enthusiastic and service oriented team in a dynamic regional library system. The Southwest Kansas Library System (headquartered in Dodge City, KS) seeks an experienced library professional to provide library development, training and resource sharing services to member libraries.
SWKLS is a multi-type cooperative library system serving a 21-county region. SWKLS provides library development funding and services, continuing education for member library directors, trustees and staff, strong outreach services, and support for innovative technologies to its member libraries. Dodge City, Kansas is a historical and diverse great plains city with a population of 27,000, midway between Kansas City and Denver.
Minimum qualifications are an ALA-accredited Masters Degree in Library Science and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience. Applicants with strong experience may complete the Masters Degree in Library Science after employment.
Essential qualities include: strong commitment to service, ability to work both independently and as a part of a team, superior interpersonal skills; flexibility; familiarity and comfort with technology, and a desire to continue the tradition of excellence, innovation and collaboration. Knowledge of public library service and administrative issues, and experience with shared integrated library automation systems are highly desirable.
