Job Description
Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill,
personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including
academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work
involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related
to a professional field. Work is performed fully independently.
Nature of Work:
The Auraria Library seeks an imaginative and experienced professional to
serve as our Employee Engagement Coordinator. The library is a team of

intensely collaborative, forward-thinking colleagues dedicated to providing
excellent services and resources to our students, faculty, staff, and community
members in a rapidly evolving information environment. The ideal candidate
will be able to envision and implement a comprehensive employee
development program that will support employees from the recruitment
process through their entire time with the library.
The Employee Engagement Coordinator will work across the library and in
collaboration with the administrative team to create a high-quality and
streamlined interview experience; develop a robust onboarding and offboarding
strategy that goes beyond orientation and is comprised of a true
immersive experience that will help new hires feel welcome and handle
employee departures with diplomacy; collaborate with library staff to establish
a continually evolving program for professional development, recognition, and
mentorship; ensure that employees feel valued and supported; and coordinate
library-wide events/trainings.

them to be successful in their work. Located in downtown Denver, Colorado,
the Auraria Campus is home to three institutions of higher education –
University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and
Community College of Denver – the latter two are Hispanic-Serving
Institutions. The Auraria Library serves the campus’ over 45,000 students,
including many first-generation, underrepresented, and non-traditional
students, and sees more than 750,000 visits a year. Auraria Library is

Examples of Work Performed:
Human Resources Business Partner:
Maintain employee data in HCM.
Act as a liaison for CU Denver HR and attend meetings and events as
necessary.
Act as liaison between employees and administration to answer
questions or concerns regarding library, campus, and system policies,
practices, and regulations.
Establish an informal working group with CU Denver HR representatives
to stay current on policy changes and develop strong working
relationships.
Ensure compliance with CU Denver and CU policies and procedures
related to personnel.
Ensure compliance with Federal and State labor laws.
Member of CU Denver’s HR Council on Diversity and Equity.
Hiring, On-boarding, and Off-boarding:
Assist library supervisors with the creation of job descriptions and
shepherd positions through the approval and posting process in
collaboration with appropriate CU Denver HR representatives.
Provide recommendations to library leadership for a diversity-centered
recruitment and interview process.
Provide guidance to search committees on required training and best
practice interview processes Coordinate phone and campus interviews.
Oversee interview candidate travel logistics.
Develop a comprehensive employee on-boarding and off-boarding
process.
Create and maintain an employee handbook.
Professional and Organizational Development:
In collaboration with the library’s administrative team, Communications
Coordinator, and the Auraria Library Mentorship, Recognition, and
Training/Teambuilding taskforces, determine and coordinate
organizational training needs on a regular basis; develop and maintain a
training calendar; build on existing efforts for a recognition program that
allows for both formal and informal opportunities; respond to library
needs for a mentorship program; and coordinate both the development
and the logistics of this model
Offer library-wide workshops on additional topics including, but not
limited to, best practices in hiring, recruitment, and supervision
Coordinate external training opportunities with CU Denver HR and other
appropriate campus or local groups
Employee Relations:
Conduct stay interviews, climate studies, and other similar employee
retention studies.
Gather employment statistics and data to help the Director and
Associate Directors make decisions regarding employee support and
engagement.
Guide supervisors and employees through disciplinary processes.
Assist employees with conflict resolution in collaboration with CU Denver
HR and other appropriate campus partners.
Assist the Director and Associate Directors in the coordination of the
annual evaluation process by developing an evaluation calendar per
campus guidelines; organizing employee materials; and ensuring they
are properly processed by CU Denver HR.
Event/training coordination:
In collaboration with the library’s Communications Coordinator, Building
Operations Coordinator and Budget and Finance Manager, establish
guidelines for hosting events
Create a workflow for organizing both internal and external libraryrelated
events and trainings such as staff appreciation, showcases, etc.
Maintain and coordinate a yearly calendar of activities and ensure fiscal
stewardship of funding for these initiatives
Other:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $49,963 - $65,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety
of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education,
specialty and training.
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable
estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development
or directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A
combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional
experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for
year basis, but not for the specific years of experience.
Two (2) years of professional level HR experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or higher degree in Human Resources, Organizational
Development or related fields.
Higher education and/or library experience.
Experience coordinating employee training programs.
Experience developing, verifying, and maintaining documentation
relating to HR activities such as staffing, training, and performance
evaluations.
Experience guiding employee recruitment, retention and relation
activities.
Experience using Concur, Taleo, HCM and/or other similar systems.
Experience with Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word and
Outlook.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of
laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in
applying them to human resource challenges.
Demonstrated experience with professional standards, concepts, and
practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or
organizational development and human resource policy.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and
orally, including public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity and

Demonstrated ability to promote a positive work environment and lead
by example
Demonstrated knowledge of current management and leadership
methods and best practices.
