The Bozeman Public Library is seeking a qualified leader who is flexible, fun, embraces change, has a good sense of humor and enthusiastically seeks ideas and creative ways to deliver library services in response to changing community needs. The Youth Services Department Head should be a vibrant, forward-thinking library professional who will lead the children and young adult services staff and collaborate with the library management team. The incumbent should excel at connecting with their community, developing creative and inclusive programming, and supporting early literacy. Must have a commitment to excellence, be flexible, creative, friendly, customer service oriented and enjoy constant interaction with patrons of all ages, especially children and their families.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Thorough understanding of good customer service practices;
- Ability to motivate staff to continue to provide high levels of services;
- Consistently performs assignments in accordance with the City's Core Values of Integrity, Leadership, Service and Teamwork;
- Experience in recognizing current library trends and standards related to public libraries.

Additional Info & Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science; and
·Considerable (5-7 years) progressively responsible experience in library operations including at least one year of supervisory experience (preferably in supervising a diverse workforce in a busy environment); or
·Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
REQUIRED SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
·Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Montana Driver’s License within six months of employment.
