Garfield County Public Library District (GCPLD) loves involving children and teenagers in our reading programs along with many other activities, making it fun and easy for them to learn. GCPLD is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and versatile Youth Services Coordinator for the Carbondale Branch Library.
This position reports to the branch manager and is responsible for: engaging in activities that promote early literacy for children and their caretakers; providing high quality library services and resources to all users, children through adult; planning, promoting, and implementing youth services programs, assisting with the design and implementation of the Summer Reading Program, conducting storytime, performing outreach activities and collection development.
The Youth Services Coordinator strives to provide outstanding customer service to all Library District staff, maintains an excellent rapport with contractors and vendors, and treats all individuals within and outside the District with courtesy and respect at all times. The Youth Services Coordinator is able to collaborate with any other staff as needed and is able to effectively communicate with all levels of GCPLD staff.
Previous experience with children ages 0-10 and teens is required. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and previous library experience is preferred. An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field combined with library experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the position is required.
This is a full time (40 hours per week), non-exempt position. Some evenings and weekends may be required. The hiring range is $17.00 to $21.50 per hour (DOE), medical, dental, vision and retirement plan benefits; paid vacation, sick and holidays.
