Salary: $19.42 - $23.32 Hourly

Overview: The Community Relations Liaison position serves as a connection between Douglas County Libraries (DCL) branch staff, leadership, and the Community Engagement division. This role creates consistency in DCL brand messaging at every DCL branch for marketing materials, plaques, and signage. This customer service position provides assistance in planning and executing events at DCL branches and community outreach activities.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

Marketing Events and Services: 

  • Maintains DCL marketing materials at every branch, including posters, bookmarks, and signage. Materials are kept current and appropriately displayed.
  • Removes outdated and discontinued materials promptly.
  • Solicits community partners to provide additional marketing assistance, materials, and displays.
  • Communicates using excellent oral, written, digital, and presentation skills that are effective with a diverse range of audiences. Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and the ability to cooperate with and motivate others in a variety of library committee and community group settings.

Special Event Assistant:

  • Collaborates with Special Events to assist in planning and executing DCL events.
  • Maintains accurate event records at designated branch. Records and updates event and outreach statistics at each location.
  • Performs data entry for all events, PR requests, and attendance numbers into the events and registration system.
  • Provides on-site event support at designated branch, including public relations, creating event records, event set-up, and on-site vendor management.
  • Collects, records, and distributes on-line feedback surveys.

Community Outreach:

  • Selects and schedules art displays at designated DCL branch. Cultivates community partnerships on behalf of the DCL branch and in coordination with the Community Engagement department.
  • Identifies opportunities for greater community engagement and outreach.
  • Ensures adherence to DCL brand standards at outreach events.
  • Represents DCL and works at signature events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Performance: Fluency in MS Office, graphic design software, scheduling software, and other industry related software. Advanced experience and skills with MS Excel. Ability to learn new software packages quickly and with a high degree of accuracy. 

Required Experience and Qualifications: Read, write and speak English. Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education or related field is preferred. Two or more years’ experience with coordinating events or programs for a public agency, non-profit, or arts/cultural/educational organization is required. A combination of experience and education will be considered.

Physical Requirements:  Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation. Work at computer work-stations repetitively and for extended periods. Access and transport materials up to 50 pounds. Participate in meetings and events at various locations and at varied times throughout the day. Ability to read as small as 8pt font.
