PART-TIME CHILDREN’S SERVICES LIBRARIAN
Seeking a flexible, energetic, and friendly children’s librarian who is comfortable with technology and committed to public service and actively promoting the library within the community.
Primary Duties:
Coordinates and implements children’s programs, services, and outreach for youth, primarily school age, and their parents and caregivers.
Maintains collaborative relationship with area schools and organizations providing youth services.
Assists children and parents in finding information and resources; provides readers’ advisory.
Supervises the Children’s Room and maintains a safe, productive, and attractive environment.
Coordinates with other staff in overall planning for library programs and services.
Attends professional meetings and continuing education opportunities.
Secondary Duties:
Trains and supervises staff and volunteers when appropriate.
Troubleshoots and assists public with technology.
Assists at circulation desk when necessary.
Performs other job-related duties as requested.
Must be able to lift and push medium to heavy weights, e.g. books, audiovisual materials and book carts full of library items.
Preferred qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, or currently enrolled.
- At least one year of experience working with children and/or teens.
- At least one year of experience working in a public library
10-15 hours per week. Will include some weekend and evening hours. Rate range: $19-$21/hour
