Job Description

Due to two retirements and the addition of a new supervisory position, DPL is seeking applicants for 3 positions:

Support Services Supervisor, which is a newly-combined work area consisting of Technical Services and Circulation
Youth Services Supervisor, which includes the library’s early literacy initiative, Every Child Ready Duluth
Branch Services Supervisor, which oversees the Mt. Royal and West Duluth branch libraries

These positions lead a work area within the library, directly supervise 10-12 staff members, serve on the library’s leadership team, and provide assistance to the public at a service desk. If you are passionate about serving a diverse group of patrons from all backgrounds, working with a staff who is dedicated to the mission of the public library, and embracing change as the library seeks to improve its service to all people in the community, read on.

The ideal candidate will be a librarian with a Master’s Degree in Library Science and three or more years of professional experience in a public library setting, at least one of which is at a supervisory or management level. The ability to lead and manage staff is essential for this position. Like many public libraries, DPL is experiencing a great deal of change with staff retirements, evolving services, and opportunities provided by new technology.

The Library Supervisor will manage the operations of a service area within the Duluth Public Library system and to collaborate with the Library Manager in the development and implementation of state of- the-art library-wide services and programs.
