Job Description

The James P. Adams Library at Rhode Island College invites applications for the full-time position of The Library Supervisor in Access Services. This is a continuing 35 hours/week calendar year position.

The individual will administer the Borrowing Services Area of Access Services, incorporating Circulation, Library Technology, Reserves and Stack Maintenance.  Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Borrowing Services Area and provide a full spectrum of public services associated with the Area through the utilization of the HELIN Consortium’s integrated library system. Assist the Access Services Manager in analyzing the Area’s activities and conducting a wide array of other related duties. The individual will supervise students and on occasion, support staff.


The individual will be one of the Borrowing Services supervisors and in this position will be responsible for evenings and occasional weekends, and/or holidays as scheduled by the Access Services Manager and/or Library Director. 

Academic Year Work Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 2:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a public service setting inclusive of one year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an academic library setting utilizing a variety of library technology and software applications (i.e., OCLC WorldShare Management System) which support the Access Services Department.
