Job Description
Warwick Public Library (WPL) seeks an energetic, innovative, flexible Librarian to lead our Youth Service Department. Experience in serving youth from birth to 18 and their families is required. We are looking for someone who is community oriented with experience in working with other agencies that serve youth and families. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, committed to professional growth and learning, and show a strong commitment to public service.
Key requirements and responsibilities:
Experience with community outreach and coordinating with agencies outside of the library.
Provides administrative oversight of the youth services department, including developing budgets and marketing materials, assessing the success of programs and services, and supervising and guiding Youth Services staff.
Plan and conduct innovative programs and services for the community at each of the four library locations as well as coordinating outreach opportunities.
Collaborate with other department managers and library administration to work towards accomplishing the strategic goals of the library.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited library school. Three year's professional experience as a librarian, experience in youth services essential, supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
The Community
WPL has four locations that serve a population of 80,000 residents. We see patrons from all over the state. WPL is a member of the Ocean State Library Consortium and we work closely with the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services in order to provide the best level of library service to Rhode Island. The Children’s Room has its own space, so kids are free to roam about and Librarians can provide innovative programming without disturbing the other parts of the library.
