Job Description

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS JOB:
Perform a variety of professional duties and responsibilities related to project coordination and management for the Cultural Arts Program in the Adams County Parks, Open Space and Cultural Arts Department; serve as primary point for the commissioner-appointed advisory board and Tier III SCFD Organization, the Adams County Visual Arts Commission; help develop and manage the county’s Public Art Program and art-related events and programs; promote county-wide arts and culture under the Artfully Adams brand; work with the Cultural Arts Liaison to bring the Cultural Arts Master Plan to life.
 
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES FOR SUCCESS:
  • Coordinate and project manage county public art projects and arts-related events and programs.
  • Manage and oversee the Adams County Visual Arts Commission, a Tier III SCFD organization.
  • Write and manage project specific SCFD grants.
  • Coordinate, implement and oversee all SCFD-funded projects, programs and events.
  • Help develop and manage the county’s Public Art Program and collection, and the Percentage for the Arts funding program.
  • Develop artist Call for Entry / RFPs and manage CAFE website postings.
  • Manage jury selection process and vendor contracts for art projects.
  • Organize public outreach for community involvement around cultural arts projects.
  • Maintain county art collection database.
  • Prepare materials for study sessions and public hearings.
  • Prepare and track project budgets, including operating and grant accounts.
  • Assist in coordinating countywide marketing/outreach initiatives and maintaining Adams County Cultural Arts branding efforts.
  • Keep apprised of arts and culture events and projects occurring within the whole county.
  • Help develop and manage the planning of cultural arts programming at the county level.
  • Give presentations on the Adams County Public Arts Program, Cultural Arts efforts, SCFD-related work and other topics as necessary.
  • Provide assistance and connections to art & cultural organizations within Adams County.
  • Coordinate activities with other county departments, state and federal agencies, cultural community, arts organizations, business representatives, public officials and other interested parties.
  • Takes responsibility for completion of all special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Experience with project management and design and construction processes.
  • Exemplary organizational skills and ability to organize and manage multiple, detailed projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of government process and procedure; experience in public art and/or local government.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and goals of Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).
  • Passion for the arts and understanding of the local arts and culture industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with citizen appointed advisory boards.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with collections management and databases.
  • Experience in public speaking, marketing, and public relations.
  • Experience and understanding of Adams County’s diverse communities and demonstrated ability to engage with and develop relationships with these communities.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe software applications.
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
 
MORE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in public art administration and/or cultural affairs.
  • Education and Training:
    • Associate or bachelor's degree ideally in public administration, arts management, urban planning, museum studies, communications, or related field.
    • Two years’ experience in public art administration and/or cultural affairs accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • License or Certificate: None.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
