Role:
Returns library materials to shelves and checks in returned materials enabling patrons to find library materials in places where they expect them to be.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
40% - SHELVING – Shelves library materials by loading carts with returned materials; placing materials on the appropriate shelf according to Dewey decimal number, author name, or title in order to return materials to library shelves. (Essential)
30% - CIRCULATION – Checks in returned materials and sorts and routes the materials to their proper location in order prepare materials for shelving. (Essential)
15% - SHELF READING & SHIFTING – Reads the order of materials on the shelves by checking for correct Dewey decimal or alphabetical order, shifts and straightens materials to correct the order as needed, and returns materials left on tables to the shelves in order to maintain the order of the collection so that materials can be found by library staff and patrons. (Essential)
5% - BOOK DROP – Empties the book drop and bins of materials from courier deliveries and places items on carts or shelves in order to prepare the materials for check-in. (Essential)
5% - PERIODICALS – Places periodicals on display shelf, moves older issue to back issue area, pulls back issues of periodicals off of display racks and places them in the periodical archives area, straightens the shelves, re-shelves periodicals left out by patrons, and maintains periodicals in good condition in order to prepare the periodicals area to be used by patrons. (Essential)
5% - OTHER DUTIES – Provides general directional assistance to patrons, pulls materials placed on hold by patrons, and assists Supervisor with projects and tasks in order to ensure the smooth operation of the department. (Non-Essential)
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Skill in arranging materials in numerical and alphabetical order
Skill in basic computer operation (preferred)
Or any combination of education and experience which provides the success factors.

Location: Riverside Library & Cultural Center, Evans, CO
Hours: Part-time (14 hrs/week); Some days, Evenings, and Weekends
