Job Description

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. The Montbello Library is a medium-sized branch that provides services to a diverse community in Northeast Denver. We are a full-service library committed to offering services that demonstrate the library’s values of Welcoming, Curiosity, Connection, Equity and Stewardship in action. We are a tight-knit staff who support one another. We strive to meet the individual needs of each customer, connecting with them on a personal level and creating a positive experience for both external and internal customers. The person in this role will use their excellent customer service skills to create inviting and supportive experiences for library customers of all ages and backgrounds, working together with our community partners to connect people with resources in our service area. 

DPL is seeking a creative, enthusiastic and experienced Library Program Associate at our Montbello Branch location. This position performs the basic professional duties involved in providing a welcoming environment, excellent customer service  to the public, with a specific emphasis on Outreach planning and programming. Interested candidates must demonstrate a commitment to developing and maintaining a welcoming environment for age groups that form part of DPL’s priority populations.

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
  • Two years of experience teaching or presenting information to children and their caregivers.
  • Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Additional Info & Requirements

City Employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All persons offered a position will be required to provide valid proof of vaccination prior to starting employment. 

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include weekend and evening hours. The branch is currently open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays.

This position could be reassigned temporarily or permanently to another branch based on system wide staffing needs.
