Job Description

EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS:

Full-Time (Exempt Professional/Technical Appointment, 260 days), 1.0FTE *This is a grant-funded position.

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

This position is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) Title V grant (Award #: P031S190160). The primary role of the Student Support Specialist is to provide support and training to students in the operation and use of instructional equipment for in-person and remote learning. This position demonstrates excellent customer service skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and strong organizational skills while proactively serving a diverse student body, including underrepresented populations. This position provides desk coverage, basic computer troubleshooting, inventory, and management of student loan equipment. This position is also responsible for maintaining complete records on activities and numbers of students served for Title V reporting purposes. This position requires the incumbent to be able to work a flexible schedule including two evenings a week and may require occasional travel and weekend commitments as necessary to carry out job duties. This individual shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the value of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college’s commitment to the Guiding Principles.

Salary and Benefits:

$39,500 to $45,900, based on education, skills and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or relevant IT certifications. Education and customer service experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree can substitute.
  • Two (2) years of current computer experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Excel, Microsoft Office, and other industry related software.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide basic technology support and instruction.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to carry out job duties.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including two evenings a week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience providing computer technology support.
  • Work experience in higher education.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is one of 13 colleges comprising the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college has consistently been named a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the past decade. 

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park.
