Job Description

Job Summary:  Performs cataloging related tasks for library materials in all languages and formats for library resources to be accessible in a timely manner via the library discovery tool. Works with bibliographic, authority and inventory metadata for data modification and maintenance purposes using relevant library platforms (e.g., Alma, etc.) and bibliographic utilities (e.g., OCLC Connexion, etc.) This is a Library Union position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with specific subject area expertise as required or equivalent
  • experience
  • Knowledge of MARC preferred; cataloging experience preferred (demonstrated knowledge of cataloging standards preferred); Knowledge of one or more foreign languages preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures; Capacity to learn new technologies and systems
  • Ability to interact favorably with co-workers and library users
  • Strong computer skills, ability to use computer software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a Team environment and to actively participate in team-based decision making
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as an understanding of the contributions a diverse workforce brings to the workplace
