Job Description

This position helps to ensure that the Library has a positive impact on the community as a whole by identifying and developing strong relationships with diverse community partners to provide equitable delivery of library services. The Bilingual Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, evaluating and helping to execute a wide variety of programs, services and events, with an emphasis on serving customers who have great need for services and barriers to receiving those services.

Additional Info & Requirements

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in library science or related field and two years’ library or customer service experience requiring strong teamwork skills. Applicants holding a Bachelor’s Degree with considerable customer service or outreach experience may be considered. Special Qualifications: Advanced Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking and writing proficiency required. Current Colorado Driver’s License as local travel will be required. Friendly and enthusiastic personal style. Independent and motivated problem solver. Flexibility and adaptability. Ability to work under minimal supervision.

The Community

Principal Duties: Develop and assist in delivering library programs and resources that support literacy, lifelong learning, workforce development and digital skills. In partnership with library colleagues and community organizations, develop services and programs to meet the needs of the traditionally underserved, such as those with limited functional English skills. Identify opportunities for Library participation in community events and programs at locations outside of the Library. Evaluate existing programs and set up systems to evaluate new programs. Act as Library liaison to community organizations and local school districts. Provide instruction and workshops on the use of Library materials, the catalog system, information gathering and research, online databases, library equipment and technology in English and Spanish. Work closely with the Library’s marketing coordinator to facilitate online marketing, social media and print marketing to promote programs, including identifying new places to showcase library information. Collect statistics pertaining to all outreach activities. Coordinate translation of the Library’s materials, signage, website, and other information. Act as building manager/person in charge in the absence of Library Director, Librarian IIs, Library Circulation Manager, and Senior Library Technicians. Perform essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.
