Job Description

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. We believe a strong library is vital for a strong community. DPL is committed to serving the evolving needs of Denverites through inspired programming, diverse collections, culturally-representative spaces and equitable policies & procedures.

Denver Public Library’s Youth Services department prioritizes library customers from birth through age 18 and their families. We offer programs and spaces for youth of all ages to learn, find community, and have fun. Youth Services works closely with all DPL locations and staff to provide training and resources that facilitate connection with youth and their families, as well as develop services rooted in anti-racism, community needs, and brain science.

DPL is hiring a K-5th Services Program Administrator to support all DPL services for K-5th grade youth and their families.

In this position, you will

  • Be a strong advocate for K-5th youth and their families.

  • Outline plans and strategies to solicit youth feedback and involvement in space design, programs, and additional services.
  • In collaboration with branches and departments, develop programs and services year-round that incorporate both literacy and positive youth development principles and activities.
  • Support staff who work with K-5th youth and their families at all locations.
  • Build relationships with branch staff, youth serving organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in city-wide youth initiatives such as the Youth One Book One Denver program.
  • Be an example for, and take a leadership role in, professional development for DPL staff including anti-racism and anti-bias work, literacy support, positive youth development, and new information about youth best practices as they develop.

The K-5th Services Administrator’s work will vary from day-to-day. Typical tasks include visiting DPL locations, managing the budget, creating and amending documents, and meeting with both internal and external partners.

Our ideal candidate has:
