Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Libraries, this position plays a critical role in continuing the evolution of an inclusive research library at the University. This position plays a leadership role in the formulation and assessment of Libraries-wide services, policies, and EDI initiatives and seeks to create an environment where all people are welcomed and valued, ensuring that employees of all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities are able to come together for the common purpose of advancing the mission of the university. Leads efforts to cultivate and sustain an impactful organization by fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that supports the Libraries mission and values to Include, Empower, Connect, Learn, and Inspire, with emphasis on sustained action and cultural transformation.

The AD will be supported as a full partner in leadership, with resources and organizational effort allocated as programming is developed.

  • Serves as ex-officio member of the Deans Committee for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity to collaborate on the coordination of diversity and inclusion initiatives across the Libraries and campus and leads coordination of Libraries-wide diversity and inclusion
  • Works in partnership with librarian colleagues and library units to develop and support assessment focused on creating inclusive excellence in all aspects of the libraries’ work such as coordinating and assessing the universal design of services and resources including digital and electronic materials, and impact on the University’s educational and research missions;
  • Fosters a diverse and inclusive environment that supports the Libraries as an organization that supports mission and values to Include, Empower, Connect, Learn, and Inspire, with emphasis on sustained action and cultural transformation;
  • Builds a more welcoming and inclusive library system and user experience for the Boulder campus Libraries, including using activities such as trainings and staff development, that support student success;
  • Collaborates with campus leadership and key university partners and units, such as the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement to advance university level IDEA Plan goals and the recruitment, retention, and advancement of a diverse workforce and an inclusive, equitable, and respectful work environment for all Libraries’ employees and Libraries’ users;
  • Serves as a member of the Libraries’ executive leadership and contributes to organizational planning, evaluation and resource allocation decisions;
  • Provides guidance and support on professional development practices, including the Libraries’ faculty and staff mentoring programs, employee onboarding and off-boarding, and facilitates dialog to advance a more inclusive environment and workplace culture;
  • Oversees Libraries human resources; develops sustainable methodologies for equitable recruitment, hiring and retention; engages in succession planning and performance management to build a diverse workforce in the Libraries;
  • Leads and facilitates equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives with a staff and faculty of approximately 5 FTE, that advance Libraries’ values, vision and mission with emphasis on sustained action and cultural transformation;

Salary Range - $110,000-$140,000.  Relocation assistance is available for those who qualify.
