Job Description

Jefferson County Public Library is hiring an Interlibrary Loan Acquisition Associate to provide core Library service in the acquisition and development of the Library’s collection. Provides access to materials not owned by JCPL through Interlibrary loan. This position expands access to materials by processing requests through the current interlibrary loan protocols and standards. Ensures timely processing and accuracy of material orders for print, electronic, media, serials and standing orders. Monitors the materials budget and reports any discrepancies. Position must comply with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119, and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, as well as ADA governing public access to space and technology. The Division of Public Services supports the mission and vision of the Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) by creating the essential destination where residents can find just the service, program or material delivered in the way that fits them just right

  • ILL OPERATIONS: Processes requests for the lending and borrowing of materials throughout the Central Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and resource sharing operations. Utilizes various databases to research and verify JCPL patron requests as needed. Identifies lending locations for requested material. Sends requests via established ILL programs. Verifies bibliographic information and processes requests for Libraries requesting JCPL materials. Maintains borrowing and lending records. Prepares and routes materials for both borrowing and requesting.
  • ACQUISTIONS: Places orders for JCPL's collection. Organizes, prioritizes and enters orders into the Library's acquisition and collection development modules. Enters orders in vendor software. Verifies order information and stock availability. Resolves discrepancies and encumbers funds. Handles daily financial posting. Runs various reports as needed.
  • OPERATIONAL DUTIES: Assists with serial orders and renewals. Assists with maintaining serial records while ensuring accuracy and currency of all records. Maintains files, paper and electronic. Communicates verbally and in writing with all staff, patrons and vendors. May assume responsibility as Person in Charge on a routine basis for their local location. Participates with other in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives.
