Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to break into the library world?  This position takes your customer service experience and applies it to an academic library setting.  Learn the ins and outs of library research, creating resources to assist self-motivated learners, and collaborating with faculty to provide student assistance in their moment of need.

While previous library experience (even as a volunteer) is useful, we are looking for a candidate with strong customer service and technology skills plus a willingness to learn how to meet the needs of our particular customer: online students of varying age and experience. Collaborating with the team to assist students and faculty is a top priority. However the majority of time is spent working on projects to enhance the student experience without forcing them to ask for assistance.  The Library Assistant helps to create and maintain resources such as LibGuide websites, PDF handouts, and videos.  They also manage much of behind the scenes aspects of a library, like statistics reporting and documentation.  In a typical day, the Library Assistant helps a doctoral student figure out where to start for their dissertation research, updates library guide websites with a new screenshot, evaluates data for a particular library link, and writes discussion board responses on APA Style for students in an online classroom.

Colorado Technical University Library's mission is to promote the pursuit of educational, personal, and professional goals of CTU's diverse community by providing curricular resources and services that support the teaching and learning of information literacy skills.  The Library Assistant position provides front-line support to the community in meeting this mission.  CTU offers tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities to help you meet your professional goals while you support our students.

Although this position is currently work from home, it will manage the CTU Denver South campus, located in Aurora, Colorado.  Ability to go to campus on a daily basis may be necessary in the future.

This position will be scheduled on weekdays and some weekends.  Flexibility of schedule to meet student need is essential.
