Job Description
This position performs purchasing and technical services duties for the library system’s collections and its development.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
a. Works with the state library acquisitions librarian.
b. Performs collection development for the library system.
c. Manages order plans.
d. Orders books and audio visual materials.
e. Tracks spending and stays within established budget.
f. Processes for the collection
g. Maintains collection as outlined in the Collection Development Policy.
h. Adds donations to library collection when appropriate.
i. Performs quality control of the catalog, records and materials.
j. Works with Technical Services Team to develop, review, and implement
k. changes.
l. Coordinates use of Main Library Collection Space with Public Services Librarian
m. Performs other Technical Services duties as needed.

m. Assists Public Services Department as needed.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info
This FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) exempt position has a salary range of $35k-$37k per year. Benefits include health insurance, Wyoming Retirement, and a generous paid vacation/sick leave policy and paid holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
● The ideal candidate will have an MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program, though a bachelor’s degree and relevant supervisory experience is acceptable.
● Solid understanding of library theory.
● Familiarity with computers and the internet.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
● Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to be insured.
● One year experience in library setting or equivalent.
● Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
● Competency in Microsoft Office software and Web 2.0 software.
● Excellent customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Previous programming /event planning experience.
● Previous library technical services experience.
The Community
The Carbon County Library System is headquartered in Rawlins, Wyoming, and maintains seven additional branch libraries around the county. After completing a total remodel and move in the summer of 2021, the Rawlins Library now offers a modern and desirable library experience for patrons and employees alike. The Library Director works closely with the Library Board and a dedicated team of about 16 employees to provide library services to the 16,000 residents of Carbon County.
