Job Description

We’re seeking a Branch Manager for our Silt Branch Library. The person who fills this role will have the opportunity to work with the Silt team, a group of individuals who are talented, dedicated, creative, and enthusiastic about serving the public. The Branch Manager also helps influence, plan, design, and carry out public services for the entire District as a member of the Public Services Team.

The Branch Manager promotes and maintains a positive work environment that is both satisfying and challenging to our staff; learning each team member’s strengths and developing staff in all areas of librarianship. The Branch Manager builds relationships with staff across the District in various roles; generously collaborates on projects, plans, and ideas; holds them self and others accountable to working at a high level of professionalism; and is a role model to their staff and others throughout the organization.

The Branch Manager oversees the daily operations of their branch. Areas of responsibility include:  circulation, collection development, readers’ advisory and reference services, events programming, outreach, resource sharing, management and development of staff, and facilities oversight.

Education and Experience

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. The following education and experience is required:

·         Relevant bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of four (4) years of education and experience, and;

·         Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible library experience, of which at least two (2) years should be in a lead, supervisory, or management capacity.

Additionally, the following is preferred:

·         Master of Library Science degree (MLS), Master of Library Information Science (MLIS), or other relevant master’s degree.

Garfield County, Colorado is a jewel within the Rocky Mountains. The Roaring Fork River winds its way through Carbondale until it meets the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs. From there, the Colorado River meanders along the I-70 corridor, from the world-famous Glenwood Hot Springs Resort to the beautiful alpine vistas of Parachute, and beyond.

In Garfield County you'll have ample outdoor activities to experience including skiing at nearby resorts (Sunlight, Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge and more); fishing, rafting, hiking, biking, camping, rock climbing, and the list goes on! This is home to vast wilderness areas and popular hiking trails like Hanging Lake, a designated National Natural Landmark.

You can access several regional airports (Eagle, Grand Junction, or Montrose) within an hour or two, or utilize Denver International Airport which is roughly 200 miles east.
