In this full-time position, you will oversee the visual resources, special collections, and instruction activities at Jen Library, including orientations, workshops, and other course-related education. You will organize the development of online resources like research guides, videos, and tutorials; serve as a resource and guide for colleagues on current issues and best practices in information literacy, research, and scholarship; and serve on library or SCAD committees as assigned. In collaboration with other head and global librarians, you will also contribute to the overall development of information literacy and library instruction across SCAD locations.

As a head librarian, you will directly supervise research, instruction, and special collections librarians and visual resources and library associate staff to include training, recruitment development, and evaluation. You will foster positive working relationships among the research, instruction, and access services team and university departments, and participate in local and national library organizations that advance the university’s reputation within academic and art communities. Among other duties, you will also coordinate with the head librarian of user experience and digital resources to support the development of print and digital collections.

The successful candidate exhibits outstanding leadership abilities and has a strong background in the development, management, and assessment of library instruction. The candidate should have proven success at creating collaborative efforts among students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to support learning and scholarship. Familiarity with print and online information sources related to SCAD degree offerings, curriculum, and special collections materials is imperative, as is a commitment to high service standards and a dedicated, student-centered approach to overall library operations and services. The candidate should also possess stellar organizational and time-management skills and be able to manage a variety of priorities and delegate where needed to meet deadlines.
