Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:   

The University of Wyoming Libraries invites applications for the Research & Graduate Support Librarian in the Research & Instruction department. R&I is a unit of the Education & Research Services division of UW Libraries that provides information, instruction, and reference services to the university community. The Research & Graduate Support Librarian will be a key contributor to library services for graduate students and the Office of Graduate Education. The individual hired for this position will work collaboratively with other librarians and staff and participate in interdisciplinary teams of liaison librarians, with an emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, medicine) disciplines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Support graduate students and academic advisors throughout the research lifecycle
  • Participate in library instructional initiatives and research help services as a member of the Research & Instruction department
  • Develop learning resources such as research guides, instructional videos, and online tutorials to support asynchronous learning
  • Develop and deliver library workshops for a graduate student audience
  • Partner with university departments to support teaching and learning
  • Support digital thesis/dissertation and data visualization/management, in collaboration with other librarians and staff
  • Support researchers with tools such as ORCID, DMP Tool, and research metrics, in collaboration with the Libraries’ Digital Scholarship Center
  • Participate in the Libraries’ Open Educational Resources initiatives
  • Support the university’s research enterprise through active engagement with stakeholders at the university and across the state

This position reports to the Chair of Research & Instruction.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ALA-accredited MLS, MIS, or equivalent (will consider those whose degree will be earned by June 2022)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with librarians, faculty, and staff
  • Willingness to learn new skills and concepts both independently and in team settings
  • Academic background or work experience in a STEM discipline

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience providing instruction, research consultation services, and/or workshops in an academic setting
