Job Description

JOB SUMMARY The Network Administrator is responsible for the purchase, installation, operation, and maintenance of Sheridan County Public Library System servers, communication networks, desktops, peripherals and telecommunication needs. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO) ♦ Oversee the day to day operation and maintenance of computer equipment for the Sheridan County Public Library System. ♦ Oversee the security solutions for the library including firewalls, anti-virus, antispam, anti-malware, and content filtering products. ♦ Oversee the operation and maintenance of library web presence. ♦ Performs data and server backup on a regular basis. ♦ Oversee computer equipment expenditures to ensure that materials, supplies, equipment, contracts and repairs stay within budget. ♦ Communicates with staff to address ways of improving library services. ♦ Assists with management and coordination of information technology projects through design, procurement, and implementation phases; researches and selects appropriate hardware and software for Library’s operational needs. ♦ Assist in the development of library procedures, goals and departmental budgets. ♦ Must be able to work a flexible schedule. ♦ Other duties as assigned by Library Director.

Schedule and Benefits: ♦ 37.5 hours/week (full-time; non-exempt) o Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. o Thursday from 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. o (On call – to address computer issues during regular library hours) ♦ Annual Leave (7.5 hours per month); Sick Leave (7.5 hours per month) ♦ Paid Holidays ♦ Medical, Dental and Life Insurance (80% employer and 20% employee premiums) ♦ Wyoming Retirement System: (10.37% employer and 8.25% employee contribution)

Additional Info & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS ♦ High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred with major course work in information technology. ♦ Evidence of two (2) or more years of professional-level experience in information systems or network administration preferred. ♦ Must hold a valid Wyoming driver’s license and be able to pass a background check. ♦ Strong customer service skills and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. ♦ Excellent communication skills. 

REQUIRED SKILLS ♦ Knowledge of installation, modification and updating of computer operating systems and peripheral devices. ♦ Knowledge of security administration and data recovery principles and practices ♦ Knowledge of basic web site design and function. ♦ Knowledge of basic local area network architecture. ♦ Knowledge of VOIP phone systems ♦ Skill to problem solve, analyze, and correct failures in both computer equipment hardware and software. ♦ Ability to train staff in the use of computer hardware and software. ♦ Ability to read, understand and follow technical instructions and manuals. ♦ Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers. ♦ Ability to work with minimal supervision; making decisions within stated guidelines in order to solve problems and to produce accurate work in a timely manner. ♦ Ability to organize, prepare, and present information verbally and in written form. ♦ Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new situations. ♦ Ability to track spending and stay within a pre-determined budget. ♦ Ability to represent the Library in a professional manner. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ♦ Ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard computer equipment. ♦ Ability to sit and work for extended periods of time. ♦ Ability to read printed materials on paper and on a computer screen. ♦ Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person. ♦ Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. ♦ Ability to lift up to 60 lbs at a time. ♦ Valid Wyoming Driver’s License.
