Job Description

JOB SUMMARY The Wyoming Room is the archival genealogy and local/regional history collections for the Sheridan County Public Library System. The Wyoming Room Manager performs a wide range of functions to ensure that historical and genealogical records are preserved for future generations. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO): ♦ Maintain a positive and friendly atmosphere for guests to the Wyoming Room ♦ Supervision of Wyoming Room staff and volunteers ♦ Promote the Wyoming Room to the community. ♦ Assist patrons with reference, historical and/or genealogical questions using online databases, microfilms, and other Wyoming Room resources ♦ Assist with tours of Wyoming Room for school or other groups ♦ Responsible for overseeing general collection development and acquisition of materials for the Wyoming Room collection. ♦ Develop a plan to digitize historical collections and maintain access to those collections for future generations. ♦ Open and close Wyoming Room according to procedures ♦ Other duties as required by position or assigned by the Library Director

Schedule and Pro-rated Benefits: ♦ 28.0 hours/week (part-time; non-exempt) ♦ Annual Leave (5.75 hours per month) ♦ Sick Leave (5.75 hours per month) ♦ Paid Holidays (when normally scheduled to work) ♦ Wyoming Retirement System: (10.37% employer and 8.25% employee contribution)

Additional Info & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma required; Previous research experience helpful. Strong customer service skills including experience working with customers of all ages and backgrounds. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office products, Internet, Email, Past Perfect, and Scanners. Knowledge of local/regional history and experience conducting historical/genealogical research is helpful. Previous supervisory experience. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ♦ Ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard computer equipment. ♦ Ability to sit and work for extended periods of time. ♦ Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. ♦ Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
