The University Libraries seek an innovative, knowledgeable, service-oriented, and dynamic individual to serve as a STEM Liaison Librarian. The STEM Liaison Librarian will work collaboratively with teaching and library faculty colleagues to develop and provide information resources, information literacy, and research expertise to faculty and students in life and physical science departments. Some evening/weekend work is expected. This position reports to the Head of Research, Outreach, and Instruction and will join a highly collaborative department of nine librarians and three paraprofessionals. It is a twelve-month leave-earning tenure-track faculty position. Demonstrated professional achievement, service, and scholarly/creative activity are required for reappointment and tenure.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure track position. The salary for the position is competitive and is contingent upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Standard benefits include state or optional (including TIAA-CREF) retirement plans, state health plan, and 24 vacation days per year. Additional Info & Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison to specific departments including, but not limited to, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics and Statistics, and the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering.
- Work collaboratively with disciplinary faculty to develop, deliver, and assess information literacy instruction face-to-face and online.
- Develop outreach initiatives to support faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Work with faculty and students to promote best practices in data management.
- Develop and maintain tutorials and online research guides.
- Educate faculty and graduate students on scholarly communication issues such as open-access initiatives, Open Educational Resources, digital publishing, and copyright.
- Provide general and subject-specific research service, including citation management software assistance.
- Develop and manage collections and resources in all liaison areas.
- Work with student success initiatives, including McNair Scholars program and undergraduate research.
- Collaborate with the Department of Library and Information Science.
- Conduct relevant research/creative activities as documented in the University Libraries Evaluation Guidelines.
- Participate in professional service, as well as service to the library and university as documented in the University Libraries Evaluation Guidelines.
Required qualifications:
- ALA-accredited MLS
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver educational programming, which could include information literacy instruction, training, or workshop facilitation
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated strong public service commitment
- Demonstrated experience with science information resources
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with librarians, faculty, staff, and students
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations and to the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Ability to meet with promotion and tenure guidelines of the UNC Greensboro University Libraries
Preferred qualifications:
- Two years of professional library experience or equivalent professional experience
- Undergraduate degree in a science-related field or experience with science librarianship
- Experience in an academic or research library with reference, information literacy, collection management, and/or outreach services
- Practical knowledge of ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
- Experience using tools for instructional design, social computing, and online collaboration
- Knowledge of tools such as SciFinder Scholar, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc.
- Knowledge of scholarly communication in the sciences
- Knowledge of the research lifecycle
- Familiarity with citation management applications such as Zotero
