Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

This position supervises staff, workflows, and planning related to Studio Coe, One Button Studio, Voice Box, VR creation space, and future related spaces and services as they come online. The Supervisor for Studio Coe works closely with library faculty, staff, and administration to assess services and make recommendations and proposals for staffing, programming, marketing, and software/hardware acquisitions to support student learning. This position also assists patrons, conducts workshops as needed, manages schedules and training for staff, and works with other Supervisors in User Services to coordinate services, events, policies, and procedures.

This position reports to the Assistant Dean for User Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Studio Coe, One Button Studio, and Voice Box. Interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full and part time staff. Create schedules for staffing and class/group visits. Create, implement, and assess policies for usage of equipment and space. Work with other User Services faculty and staff to address issues or problems as they arise.
  • Coordinate with Libraries faculty and staff and University IT to ensure software and hardware are functioning, facilitating repairs/updates as necessary. Assess use and impact of services and equipment to make recommendations to Library Administration for budgeting of staffing and technology purchases. Contribute to research and planning of new service opportunities. Maintain relationships with other units within UW Libraries and the larger UW community, attending meetings and training as needed with partners.
  • Coordinate planning and implementation of workshops and events related to Studio Coe services, software, and equipment. Conduct assessment of workshops, evolving to meet changing technology and educational needs of users. Work with marketing staff and Studio Coe faculty and staff to promote Studio Coe services and workshops, including social media promotion, tabling, and other outreach.
  • Create, implement, and assess policies for usage of equipment and space in Studio Coe, One Button Studio, Voice Box, and VR workstations, ensuring equitable access and best practices for equipment use and safety.
  • Attend monthly User Services Supervisor meetings, one-on-one meetings, and other User Services and UW Libraries meetings. Serve on committees and workgroups. Work with other units to ensure users receive assistance with media spaces/rooms, technology usage and troubleshooting in UW Libraires, and planning and conducting Libraires events. Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating a commitment to teamwork within a large and complex organization. Perform other duties as assigned as services, spaces, and technologies evolve.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work and experience

Experience:  1 year experience working in a library, computer lab, or other learning/engagement space

Required licensure, certification, registration:  None
