Job Description

PLEASE NOTE: POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

The Sweetwater County Library System is looking to fill a full-time Technology Coordinator position. The Technology Coordinator is responsible for researching, purchasing, installing, securing and maintaining computer hardware and software for the library system.  The Technology Coordinator also provides technology support for the entire library system and oversees connections to the statewide integrated library network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Keeps the Director well-informed of information technology activities throughout the library system, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  2. Manages, maintains and troubleshoots all library system software and software applications, hardware, workstations, computer systems, networks, servers, databases, phones, printers, websites and other library technologies.
  3. Assists library staff in understanding and using library technology.
  4. Supervises staff as directed, completing technology staff evaluations as required.
  5. Manages technology inventory to include procurement and disposal.
  6. Works with the Library Director to develop and manage the library system technology budget and annual technology plan.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Respects confidentiality in discussing patron, staff, volunteer and organizational matters; also maintains confidentiality of organization, project, fiscal and personnel related information in compliance with Wyoming state law.
  2. As directed, participates on library system and community committees, work groups, task forces, etc.
  3. Maintains knowledge on current technology.
  4. Participates in the development and keeps informed of library system policies, procedures, activities and services.
  5. Assists with library programs and events as needed.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  1. Current information technology, Internet and database search capabilities.
  2. Internet search engines and Microsoft Office products.
  3. Windows Server Environment; Internet Information Services; backup systems; network/workstation peripherals; print servers; firewalls, spam & antivirus hardware/software; installing and fixing computers and computer hardware; phone server and HP printer maintenance.

Ability to:

  1. Communicate with others, orally and in writing in English on a daily basis.
  2. Understand verbal and written instruction in English.
  3. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  4. Effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and patrons.

Skilled in:

  1. Working with limited supervision, with aptitude for detailed work and proficiency in prioritizing tasks on a daily basis.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Receives general supervision from the Library Director.
  • Directly supervises one part-time employee and department volunteers as needed.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info

Schedule
This is an exempt position working at least 40 hours per week with a flexible and varied work schedule.

Pay
$60K per year

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and two years of relevant Information Technology experience are required, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.

Schedule Requirements: Regular and predictable attendance in the work place is required as is being available on call (or making arrangements for other staff to be available on call) for major computer hardware and software related issues and situations after hours, weekends and holidays.

Travel: This job requires travel using a library vehicle and/or a personal vehicle throughout Sweetwater County between the different library facilities. Must have or be able to obtain a current driver’s license valid in the State of Wyoming, have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and be able to be insured by the library system’s auto insurance policy.   

Work Environment and Physical Demands: The essential functions of this job require the employee to work in an office environment requiring frequent stooping, bending, walking over uneven spaces and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (30-50 pounds) items.
