Job Description

Library Director needed: The Eaton Public Library is The Little Engine that Could. It’s a small-town library with big support and big participation. It needs a director that can help it get to the top of the mountain. Do you have vision, energy, and desire to fuel its continued ascent?  We have a great staff, a great community, and a great facility that has the latest technology, maker space, and rock-solid programming. What we need now is a director that has the leadership, skill and commitment to keep up the momentum. Get away from the city, lead a dynamic and active library in a beautiful little Colorado town.

Requirements:  This exempt position calls for a Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS), or similar advanced degree, and five (5) years of public library experience. Management or supervisory experience is important.  Collaboration and networking experience important.  Must have outstanding customer service skills, the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with other staff and the community, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, good attention to details, and be passionate about the importance of a public library to the community.

Duties include but are not limited to:

·         You will work with a Board of Trustees developing policies and long-term strategies

.        You will have oversight of all staff, programs, services, and collections.

·         You will supervise 8 employees (6.5 full time equivalent) .

.         You will work with contractors and companies to maintain a safe and attractive library facility.

·         You will work with all ages of the public using advanced computer searching skills, and at the circulation desk with its associated duties.

Annual salary range is $2,692.31 - $3,653.85 Biweekly (converts to $70,000 - $95,000 on an annual basis) with placement depending upon education and experience.

The Community

Located in Eaton, Colorado, the Eaton Public Library has grown from a small brick library constructed in 1911 to a 12,000 square foot, newly remodeled and updated modern library. Staff and patrons love the historical feel of our library which was named after Benjamin Eaton, a former governor and credited with bringing irrigation to Weld County.  As part of High Plains Library District, we enjoy solid funding to pay competitive salaries, for extensive programs and our up-to-date collections. Our new Makerspace Lab has great potential for our forward-thinking staff in this small town of 6,000 residents.  Our library is located 5 miles north of Greeley, home to the University of Northern Colorado.
