Job Description

Executive Director – Anythink Libraries (CO)

Anythink is a new style of library – a place of unlimited imagination, where play inspires creativity and lifelong learning. Anythink serves the residents of Adams County, Colo., with seven libraries and a bookmobile. With a focus on innovation, Anythink’s award-winning approach to library service is recognized by industry leaders and organizations across the globe. Anythink’s vision is to be the catalyst for innovation in Adams County – a place where people are happy, healthy, safe, and smart. The library supports lifelong learning for children, families, artists, and entrepreneurs through hands-on programming, popular resources, and one-on-one assistance from Anythink’s dedicated staff.

Anythink is looking for a visionary leader committed to providing exceptional library service to the Adams County community. Like all Anythinkers, the executive director embodies these shared values:

  • Compassion for our customers and for each other
  • Passion for our product
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Everyone is creative
  • Optimistic attitude – we believe that anything is possible

Working together with Anythink’s leadership team and 128 FTE staff, the executive director will embark on two new building projects in partnership with the City of Thornton. The planned Anythink Nature Library is the first of its kind, supporting the well-being of the Adams County community through spaces, experiences and collections focused on nature and environmental stewardship with a 50,000-square-foot library on 139 acres of open lands. The executive director will support Anythink’s strong culture by inspiring staff to dream big, work collaboratively, and invent and implement outstanding library services. As a special taxing district, Anythink has dedicated funding via property taxes, contributing to an operating budget of $27 million annually. This is a non-union organization.

Minimum qualifications include 8+ years as a library director or manager and a bachelor’s degree required. An ALA-accredited Master’s in library science or the equivalent is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess a strong understanding of budget and financial stewardship, experience with capital projects, and excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

A starting salary range of $150,000-$180,000 (with placement negotiable, dependent upon experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package.
