Job Description

The Clyfford Still Museum is seeking a part-time, 6-month digitization specialist to aid in the digitization of historical archives held in the Clyfford Still Archives. This candidate must be passionate about the preservation and access of historical archives and be prepared to work in a small office environment with changing priorities. The Digitization Specialist will join the archives in preparing Clyfford Still’s archival holdings for research access through scanning, quality control, color correction, and ingesting materials into the Digital Asset Management System, Luna, with technical metadata. The ideal candidate will be a current graduate student or recent graduate in Archives Management with a passion for digital archives.

This position requires on-site work.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Uphold professional standards in archival digitization and imaging in a fine arts museum setting.
  • Scanning of the Clyfford Still historical archives including correspondence files, photographs, and personal papers.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of scanning quality.
  • Providing quality control checks of digitized materials.
  • Upload of newly digitized materials into Luna with clean technical metadata.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiatives (FADGI) for the best quality of digitized materials.
  • Work closely with the Associate Digital Archivist to identify digitization projects and digitization priorities.
  • Update and develop better workflows for digitization within the Clyfford Still Archives.
  • Aid in Clyfford Still Archives projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a MLIS program (coursework in digital archives are desirable but not required).
  • Knowledge of digitization standards and best practices for digitization of a variety of analog mediums including papers and photographs.
  • Experience handling fragile materials.
  • Understanding of the FADGI for digitization.
  • Ability to be flexible in an environment with changing needs in digitization.
  • Strong organizational skills in preparing, scanning, and documenting what has been digitized.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as we work as a small team.
  • Can lift up to 25 pounds.
