Job Description
The Brownell Library is seeking a candidate for the position of part time Circulation Associate. The ideal candidate is an individual who is passionate about public service, self-directed, creative, and able to excel as a part of a team in our small, busy library.
This individual is the primary contact for all circulation related functions and is a welcoming presence in the library. The duties for this position include opening and closing the library, handling incoming and outgoing items at the circulation desk, issuing library cards, answering the phone and library email, assisting with patron questions or referring those questions to other staff members, and other circulation related duties as required. This individual also assists the director in marketing library services and programs using a variety of modes including social media, print and email and assists in planning adult programming as time allows.
This position requires excellent communication skills, computer experience and the ability to learn new technology as needed, and experience working with the general public. Previous library experience is a plus, but not required.
The work hours for this part time position are Tuesday 11:30 – 7; Wednesday and Friday 9:30 – 5; and Saturday 10 - 3 for a total of 27.5 hours per week. Benefits include vacation, sick and personal time. The pay is $18 per hour.
