The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. Part of the Neighborhood Services Division is comprised of 26 of DPL’s branch locations, the Cultural Inclusivity, Older Adult, Programming, and Youth Services Departments. All of our branches connect with our communities by providing customer service, materials for check-out, wireless access, public computers, help with research and technology questions, programs and all ages and spaces for reading, gathering, and learning. Branch staff provide outreach services and engage with individual community members and neighborhood groups to strengthen Denver’s communities.
Denver Public Library is hiring a Regional Branch Manager for our Northwest branch locations. You will be part of the Neighborhood Services Division and its team of seven managers who oversee our branch locations and systemwide services and report to the Director of Neighborhood Services. You will be responsible for the direct oversight and management of the (Northwest Regions) consisting of the following locations: *John "Thunderbird Man" Emhoolah, Jr., Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales, Ross-Broadway, Smiley, and Woodbury Branches.
Your approach to library management is with the community at the center and will bring forward their aspirations to inform library services in alignment with our values. You are an advocate for individual locations and staff teams while maintaining a systemwide view and providing input to management and executive teams. You provide coaching and support to the branch supervisor through operations and personnel management, along with team development and staff engagement. You value and advocate for staff, the organization, and community with their uniqueness in mind and leverage those differences to create change. In addition, this manager role will work closely with departments outside of our division to collaborate and solve problems to better serve our community and improve operations. You align with DPL's values of Welcoming, Curiosity, Connection, Equity and Stewardship and will work towards weaving them into your day to day.

Acceptable equivalencies
Experience requirement: Three (3) years of supervisory experience or three years of experience at an Administrator level.
Education requirement Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution
Ability to understand yourself and leverage emotional intelligence in overcoming challenges, motivating and empathizing with others
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to actively listen to many different voices, communicate themes and issues with a bias towards solutions and implementing change as appropriate
Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to give clear direction, guidance, constructive feedback, coaching, develop, involve, and mobilize people in shared efforts.
Ability to navigate a middle manager role
Experience with creating an inclusive work environment that includes employee relations and engagement.
Ability to collaborate and build relationships across different backgrounds and knowledge bases.
Skill in leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data in discovering insights and decision making while leading with equity.
Knowledge of process improvement practices
Knowledge and practice with librarian values
Knowledge of library branch operations
