Job Description

The City of Littleton is looking for an Adult Services Supervisor for the Bemis Library.  The Adult Services Supervisor exemplifies excellent customer service. Responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of all adult, senior, and technology services, collections, outreach and programs.

This position will have an opportunity to work in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.  This role will be instrumental in the implementation of the bookmobile for 2023.  The ideal candidate will have extensive technological acumen and will be passionate about building new programs and collaborative projects.  The ideal candidate will be inventive and will work well with others to establish top tier programming for adults and seniors.

Starting salary at or near $72,113.00 per year

Salary range: $57,690.40 - $86,535.60

This full-time position is exempt per FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Work Schedule: This full-time position will work a variable shift based on library needs, with shifts possible seven days per week during Library business hours. Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed for coverage and/or special events

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

PERSONNEL/ADMINISTRATION

Oversees the division programs and activities of the adult, senior and technology services, including the supervision, training and evaluation of staff.

Plans for and prepares budget requests and determines division fund allocation.

Develops division manual of policies and procedures.

Responsible for creating and maintaining in-house library web pages and subject guides for the adult services division

Prepares monthly statistical reports; analyzes statistics for implications for library services and policies; prepares written and oral reports conveying results to staff and library director. 

REFERENCE SERVICE

Assists patrons in finding the information or materials they seek by using the public catalog, Internet, reference databases and other materials.  

Maintains daily order, safety and enforces rules and policies within the library.

Provides expertise in reader’s advisory to patrons.

EDUCATION, PROGRAMMING & OUTREACH

Oversees all educational and technology programs for adults and seniors, assigns division staff to facilitate specific programs.

Oversees all technology programs and the MakerSpace Lab and assigns staff to facilitate technology programs. 

Gives presentations to groups regarding the library and conducts tours of the library in order to promote reading and library services.

Coordinates outreach services and programs, primarily for seniors and adults.

Will assist the Library Director and Library Systems Supervisor with implementing the library’s new bookmobile program slated to launch in January 2023.

Coordinates press releases, publicity fliers, bibliographies, informational brochures, and lists of Internet resources as related to division services.

Coordinates displays and display cases located in the adult areas of the library.

COLLECTION MANAGEMENT

Evaluates the library collection to ensure condition of materials, currency of materials, standardization and patrons requests are considered.

Oversees the collection budget for the division and provides guidance to staff on purchasing materials for the collection.

Coordinates the collection development plan and orders new materials within assigned collection area.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Participates in Library Management Team to develop policies and services, resolve problems, and conduct long range planning, and meet strategic plan goals and objectives

With the Youth Services Supervisor leads quarterly cross-divisional programming committee meetings.

Researches industry trends and professional journals to increase knowledge of issues and resources to help with plans for the division.

Attends professional conferences and participates in the Colorado library professional environment.

Participates on Marmot Library Network committees as necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s Degree in Library Science; additional coursework in adult and young adult literature, general management, library management, and personnel management; and

Five (5) years of work experience in a public library including at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role in a public library; or

An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
