Job Description

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Supports individuals, teams and/or departments through facilitating and regulating a series of activities and work streams. Carries out specific tasks based on established procedures, to ensure a broader set of priorities and objectives are met. Primary focus on execution of assigned tasks in a specific area of responsibility, with a non-technical scope and a high degree of customer service. 

Provides library services to school-based staff, central departments, and vendors. Provides support to other department members. 

- Provides excellent customer service to building and central staff related to collection development, accounts, library systems, and digital resources.

- Selects, deselects, and inventories resources to improve student and teacher access to high quality resources according to department and school board policies and department mission and vision; works collaboratively with members of Library Services, central departments, building library staff, teachers, and administrators in order to perform collection development and improve library spaces; facilitates student voice and choice in library collections.

- Implements projects and programs that support the mission and vision of District Library Services, identifying and researching current and future trends in library resources, programs, and services; proposes flexible and responsive ways to implement these resources and services, including training and professional development opportunities.

- Manages the acquisitions process for school and/or District customers and any related invoices and requisition; anticipates and resolves related problems, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and works to implement them.

- Coordinates flow of library materials with other department and staff and uses appropriate library systems and software to manage these materials.

- Markets and communicates library services and resources across the community in order to improve access to high quality and highly effective library programs and resources.

- Creates and maintains systems to track the quality of library services across the system and generates reports as needed.

- Develops strategies and clear, specific performance measures for projects that are easily translated into work goals and deliverables for other team members; assesses and tracks project progress regularly using various computer programs and tools; and drives project completion by holding others accountable for responsibilities and deadlines.

- Mentors other staff as needed.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Three (3) or more years experience working a library is required, preferably in an ECE-12th grade school setting.

- Demonstrated experience working with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and/or community agencies is required.

- Valid Colorado Driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.

- Proficiency with Google Suite & Microsoft Office, as well as knowledge of library software systems and databases.

- Ability to take initiative, creatively problem solve, and follow through with minimal supervision.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences.

- Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

- Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines.

- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

- Works collaboratively with others on a team.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Must have a strong customer service approach, emotional constancy, and extraordinary interpersonal skills to ensure purposeful, positive, and professional interactions and working relationships.

- Understanding of child development and related literacy needs from early childhood through 12th grade.

- Knowledge of Colorado K-12 curriculum, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) standards.

- Understanding of adult education and personalized learning preferred.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Education, English Language and Literature, or related field is required.
