Job Description
Coventry Public Library is seeking a Part-time Youth Services Assistant. Responsibilities include assisting patrons with their informational and reader’s advisory needs within the Youth Services & Teen Department; providing instruction and assistance to patrons in the use of technology within the departments; assisting with the shelving and maintenance of children’s materials and with the children’s display case; preparing craft or promotional materials for programming or for display areas; and assisting with volunteers.
Qualifications: A high school degree or equivalent is required; at least two years of college education preferred. Experience working with children and knowledge of computer technology is necessary. Qualified individuals will be experienced in customer service and working with the public. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to work on a team as well as independently. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Hours & Compensation: Part-time position. Regular hours will be Tuesdays, 9-1, Thursdays, 9:30-5; every other Friday, 9:30-5; Sunday hours will be available at time and a half. Other hours may be added to cover vacations or special programs.
