Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:   

The University of Wyoming Libraries seeks applicants for the position of Student Success Librarian. The Student Success Librarian is a member of the Research & Instruction department, a unit of the Education & Research Services division of the Libraries. This position collaborates with other members of the ERS team as well as with student success-focused partners across the university.

The Student Success Librarian will support students to establish strong awareness of and engagement with the library and its services to help ensure their retention and success. The position will focus on the success and belonging of students, including new transfer students and first-generation college students as they integrate into the larger UW student community.

Located in Laramie, WY, this position provides vital on-campus support to students and library users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Lead library initiatives for transfer and first-generation students
  • Participate in library instructional initiatives, student engagement programs, and outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with campus partners on programming
  • Teach research and information literacy skills to undergraduate students in support of UW's general education curriculum.
  • Lead efforts to assess the effectiveness of Libraries' instructional programs
  • Provide research & instruction support for a variety of subject areas or disciplines as identified by the R&I team.
  • Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with students and teaching faculty
  • Support adoption and development of Open Educational Resources
  • Participate in library faculty activities including scholarship; service; faculty governance; reappointment, tenure, & promotion; and professional development.

This position reports to the chair of Research & Instruction.

Additional Info & Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • ALA-accredited MLS, MIS, or equivalent by August 2022
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
