Job Description
Role:
Assists patrons with advanced search needs and develops library programs and services for youth (Teens).
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
60% ADVANCED SEARCH ASSISTANCE - Conducts patron interviews, employs search strategies, provides advanced
reference and reader's advisory services, mentors staff, and recommends resources in order to satisfy patron
requests of an advanced nature.
40% PROGRAM & SERVICE DEVELOPMENT - As assigned, researches, recommends and implements program and
service initiatives, including but not limited to, community outreach, Web content, collections, merchandising,
volunteers, public programs, and computer training in order to develop system-wide programs and services for
Library Operations.

1. CUSTOMER RELATIONS - Outstanding and personalized customer service
2. ADVANCED SEARCH ASSISTANCE - Effective assistance for patrons with advanced search needs.
3. PROGRAM & SERVICE DEVELOPMENT - Effective development of programs and services.
Focus in Teen area including programming, service, and trends.
Additional Info & Requirements
Two years to five years of similar or related experience preferred.
MLS degree required.
Advanced technology skills, including advanced assessment scores for Windows,
Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Millennium preferred.
Knowledgeable of youth services, such as programming, trends, and popular titles,
preferred.
Committed to provide outstanding and personalized customer service to patrons,
coworkers and customers.
Be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence, including self-regard, emotional selfawareness,
assertiveness, independence, self actualization, empathy, social
responsibility, interpersonal relationship, stress tolerance, impulse control, reality
testing, flexibility, problem solving, optimism, and happiness.
Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and
have fun.
Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends required.
The Community
Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado.
The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, an Outreach Service that provides mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
