Job SummaryThe Community College of RI is currently seeking part-time, reference librarians to provide library services to students during the evenings and weekends. Under the supervision of the head of reference adjunct librarians will provide reference and instruction services as requested, and will participate in the development and management of resources used to support these activities. Work schedule will be primarily evenings, but day and weekend coverage may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provide reference service, including

· Assisting patrons at the reference desk. 
· Instructing library patrons in the use of the online catalog, periodical databases, other library resources, and the Internet. 
· Answering phone/on-line chat reference service. 
· Providing research assistance on an appointment basis. 
· Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the reference collection and on-line services.
· Plan and conduct library instruction sessions.

· Prepare and update library guides and materials.
· Review and evaluate materials for inclusion in the collection
· Occasionally act as back up for Circulation Librarian.

Minimum Requirements· MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program required
· Academic library reference experience required. 
· Experience with web-based resources and electronic databases required.

 
Competencies· Experience in library instruction preferred.
· Experience with OCLC WMS preferred.
