Position Overview
Coordinates reference services and programming for adults districtwide. Meets regularly with other adult reference and programming providers to ensure continuity in programming and services. Offers training for staff and the public on reference and adult programming topics. Assists Director in coordinating other types of staff training as assigned. Performs outreach programs and special activities. Continually seeks and finds ways to promote use of the District libraries reference materials and increase attendance at adult programs. Works with community groups to develop and expand reference services and adult programs. The work requires that the employee have excellent judgment as well as knowledge, skill, and ability in every phase of the public library field. May assume responsibility for the building in the absence of the branch manager. This Librarian maintains the Library of Things and provides technical support for Overdrive & Libby.
Work Environment
- Performs work under typical library conditions
- Library hours require some evening and weekend work
- Frequent contacts with the public, other libraries, nonprofits and other government agencies.
- Operates computers and other standard office equipment. Routinely exposed to computer screens
- Regularly interacts with other personnel and the public
