Douglas County Libraries is hiring for a Collections and Exhibits Curator. This is an excellent opportunity to project manage major exhibits and collections for the Visual Design, Arts and Archives team, creating timelines and action plans, organizing teams, measuring outcomes, and tracking budgets. You’ll also support ongoing collections management in DCL’s Archives & Local History department, which collects and preserves the history of Douglas County and makes it available to the public. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
70% Department Operations:
- Maintain and Regularly Update Collections and Acquisitions Guidelines.
- Liaison with Collections Services Department on shared collections work.
- Liaison with Information Technology Department related to archives troubleshooting and support.
- Project management for the VDAA Department.
- Coordinate logistics for exhibits—including scheduling, overseeing installation and deinstallation work, and organizing return of objects to appropriate storage under guidance of the supervisor.
- Maintains timely communication and organization at all stages of exhibit planning. Understands and anticipates customer needs to ensure a premium customer experience.
- Work with exhibit contractors and vendors.
- Represents DCL and works at division events.
- Ability to process historic collections.
- Learns new software packages quickly and with a high degree of accuracy.
30% Administrative:
- Lead on collections and project management software/systems, space management, supply and collections ordering.
- Tracks project budgets.
- Stays current on DCL emails, meetings, trainings, processes, procedures and technologies required to perform work duties.
- Extends professional courtesy to other team members and understands the big picture and the essential nature of every role at DCL.
Performs other work duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required
- Bachelor degree
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- 2 years working experience in museum collections or archives
- 2 years experience coordinating exhibits
- Familiar with Preservica and ArchiveSpace
- Fluency in MS Office, integrated library systems, and other industry related software
Preferred
- 3 years professional experience
- Master’s degree
A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Physical Requirements: Ability to drive between various branches. Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation. Work at computer work-stations repetitively and for extended periods. Participate in meetings and events at various locations and at varied times throughout the day. Ability to read as small as 8pt font.
