Job Summary
CU Boulder Libraries encourages applications for Library Services Specialists! These positions provide user centered customer service and assistance at all in-person service points in the Libraries as well as virtual services. The Specialists work closely with other services partners to ensure consistent service and collaborates to improve practices as needed. These positions supervise the services points during operational hours and oversee student employees during that time.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provides user-centered customer service
- Staffs service points in the library.
- Staffs Libraries-wide virtual services including chat and email.
- General patron services - circulation, printing, scanning, research assistance, materials access, (using stacks, microform machines, etc.), and appropriate referrals.
- Patron account assistance - fines, replacements, discrepancies, etc.
- Able to assist with other library services and routine patron account needs (study rooms, reserves, etc.).
Collaborates with other Section and Team Members and other services partners
- Monitors and evaluate current services, procedures, practices, and documentation for improvements.
- Makes suggestions and recommendations when vital.
- Works collaboratively with Libraries Security by providing support for security for library facilities.
- Stays up to date with any changes.
Supervises service points and oversees student employees during operational hours
- Works on-site during operational hours.
- Works closely with other service point supervisors to ensure successful scheduling and collaboration.
- Organizes and maintains in-person desk.
- Provides supervision of student personnel operational hours at the Libraries.
- Trains student personnel in circulation procedures and policies as needed.
- Works closely with circulation student supervisors to provide feedback on students and training needs.
- Works closely with Libraries Security as main services contact on weekends and evenings.
What You Should Know
There are 4 fully in-person positions. These positions can operate on various schedules, listed below.
- Norlin Library Evening/Weekend shifts are typically 3 - 11 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; 10 am - 6 pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Norlin Library Day-time shifts are typically 8 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday
- Norlin based floating shifts are typically 10 am - 6 pm Monday - Friday
- Music Library Evening/Weekend shifts are typically 12 - 8 pm Sunday - Thursday
- During intersessions, summer and breaks, hours scheduled shift based on building operational hours.

What We Can Offer
The annual salary for this position is $38,000.
Shift differential is available, as follows:
- Weekend shift-differential is 20%.
- Second shift differential of 7.5% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday).

What We Require
- One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must be a Colorado resident.
