Job Description

Works with the Associate Dean of the Law Library to fulfill the educational and service obligations and  responsibilities of the law library. Works with the Associate Dean to plan, direct, and assess the services and  resources of the UMass Dartmouth Law Library within the context of the university’s mission and strategic plan. Promotes the services and resources of the law library within the law school, the university and the local community. Demonstrates excellent leadership and managerial skills to help plan, articulate, and implement services. The position develops, implements and monitors library policies, procedures and programs. Collaborates in determining policies and works closely with the library's committees and teams. Works with the library staff, law school staff, law faculty, law students, members of the university community, members of the local bar and the general public. Works with the Associate Dean and division heads to ensure that all library personnel are working effectively and are in proper position classifications. The Assistant Dean will have a special focus on developing polices, programs and support for faculty scholarship and creating opportunities and support for student and faculty engaged and scholarly research. As such, the incumbent is a confidential employee as defined in M.G. L. Chapter 150E, Section 1.
