Position Summary: The Library Director at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) provides leadership in library services in alignment with teaching and learning. The RRCC Library provides physical and electronic resources to support the curriculum and lifelong learning of students. The RRCC Library provides instruction, reference, and outreach to advance the RRCC Common Learning Competencies as well as Program and Course outcomes. The RRCC Library engages students in-person and in synchronous and asynchronous remote learning to meet student needs and preferences.

Description of Position

Oversee Library Operations: Directs all library functions and coordinates the delivery of library services to students, faculty, and staff in both remote and in-person environments. Supervises library staff, conducting annual employee performance evaluations and facilitating training opportunities for library staff that promote growth in alignment with the library’s strategic plan, employee goals, and antiracist frameworks.  Creates library spaces that are inclusive campus destinations. Serves as campus copyright officer. Works with faculty to promote the use of Open Educational Resources and to provide resources and support in their adoption and creation. Manages library budget, purchasing, and grants, and aligns budget expenditures with the RRCC Mission.

Manage & Develop Library Technology Infrastructure: Actively develops, maintains, and administers the online library environment and the systems (integrated library system, library guides, Prospector ILL, web site, etc.) that support it, ensuring equitable access. Stays abreast of library technology trends, implementing cutting edge tools and services that will contribute to an active learning environment. Coordinates with other CCCS Library Directors to shape the future of the CCCS shared online library.

Outreach & Marketing: Conducts research in the campus community to ensure alignment of library resources and services with teaching and learning and other academic initiatives. Develops strategic partnerships with academic and student life departments to promote library services. Plans events that promote the library and showcase academic activity on campus, and collaborates with all college staff to support campus-wide events. Develops initiatives in support of the Common Learning Objective of Critical Thinking.

Service to Team & College: Participates in the planning and development of library operations and coordination of services. Oversee all library Continuous Improvement Plans and Student Learning Assessment Plans. Participates in the planning and development of library operations and coordination of services. Collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and statistics in major job duty areas to set and measure personal and team goals. Represents the library at campus events and by serving on committees and in other official groups.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school. Five (5) years of progressively responsible library work, three (3) of which are in an academic library. Three (3) years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience successfully implementing a large project or initiative. Demonstrated collaborative and team building experience.

Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year experience managing a budget. Working knowledge of all aspects of library services, to include reference, instruction, access, electronic resources, cataloging, and collection development. Experience working in a community college setting. Experience migrating an integrated library system (ILS). Teaching experience. Experience using existing and emerging technologies to provide and enhance library and information services. Experience managing print and digital academic library collections. Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability and experience using technological tools to manage work and create reports. Ability to use data to inform decision making. Ability to interact and communicate effectively in all settings (in-person, remotely, written, and verbal correspondences) with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated competence with digital tools and services. Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
